Sound volume now should be restored to previous levels when switching to/from the game. Fixed crashes related to incorrect model cache flushing on closing a map. Moved the numerical indication for Power in the selection info window a little to the right (4-digit health values used to overlap its icon sometimes). Addressed some crash-related issues under Vista. should appear correctly in the items’ tooltips again. The Statistic window is now hidden immediately on exiting the lobby. Fixed an untranslated ‘Alert’ message box title. Fixed a bug that caused the cursor not to be changed when selecting items. The conversation lines in story missions are now correctly visible at screen resolution 800圆00. AoE action decals now correctly represent the area affected. Units that have died on a bridge will fade out out instead of sinking into the ground. Fixed an issue related to picking terrain points at bridges. Removed the obsolete description identifier that showed when the Tribes’ structure was selected in “New Enemy”. Fixed some effect descriptions and icons for the variants of the Confuse action. Fixed the effect icons in the Selection Info window when a mob or boss is selected. Fixed some character portraits: High Priest XLII in “Caught in the Web”, the technicians in “Following the Crumbs”, the Surgeon in “New Enemy”. Fixed several Vista related issues under restricted user accounts, like non-playing movies and forgetting the CD key entered by the user. Limited the acceptable characters in a user channel name. Added Russian, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese regional channels. Now these channels should work properly again. Fixed several issues related to the regional chat channels. Added a pause counter to the pause window. Individual players can now pause the game up to 3 times in multiplayer games. Added a new special location: “Bridges of Trial”, unlocked by completing “Dunetown Base”.

Free and easy access to information, not bound to institutions has enabled a confluence of the roles of specialists and the public, both as contributors to the human project of knowledge cultivation. Uniformity in methods and understandings might sound beneficial for global development, however, is it also possible that its effects on human knowledge and diversity can be impairing? Today a process of democratization of knowledge, largely fueled by the emergence of the internet, is facilitating that more people participate in this discourse.
It can be criticized for promulgating Western values and not taking cultural differences into account. The dominant system of science as is currently practiced globally, originated in Western Europe. This includes questioning the authority of scientific methods as well as the values that this system promotes. Hence comes the serious demand to constantly and critically re-evaluate its structure and function. Science as we know it today has grown to be a very powerful and complex systematic enterprise with the potential to actively shape our understanding of the world, shift paradigms and redefine the future of our species. One manifestation of this ability is the development of science.
